Dear Church,

Hebrews reminds us that Jesus is ‘the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word'( Hebrews 1:3) Jesus is the full revelation of God. Meaning you cannot and will not have a clearer expression of God outside of Jesus. That is why the world dislikes the word ‘Jesus’. They don’t have any problem with God or higher power; but when we say Jesus we are narrow minded and bigoted. Why? It is because when Jesus is mentioned a decision is required. God suddenly moves to our personal space; he becomes Emanuel ( God with us), he implores a relationship that demands a response. Conviction happens followed by repentance and  a new life begins. The world hates this.  Yet as believers, Jesus is the only name we ought to mention because despite the hardheartedness of the people and the push backs we get, His name has the power for every knee in heaven, earth and under the earth to bow  and every tongue to confess. Why? Because he is the radiance and the exact representation of God’s glory and being. Do we believe that the Jesus you and I carry in our hearts is the exact representation of God’s glory and being?

Dear Church,

David prayed, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest- I would flee far away and stay in the desert; I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm” (Psalm 55:6-8) This was David’s prayer during the time of rebellion and betrayal of two of his good friends. God called David ‘the man after my own heart’ yet David had moments when he wanted to escape from the brokenness of this life,’to a shelter far away from the storms’. Some of you are at this place today, be encouraged, we have a God who promised his presence in our woundedness and betrayals. The real place of shelter is at the feet of our Lord. Sometimes our rebellion prevents us to come to that place or we are too busy solving our hurts by our own methods. The invitation is open.

Dear Church,

Paul describes the Gospel as ‘the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes’- This power is a dispensation power meaning it is a constant and continuing flow, not just one time. It strengthens us in our daily journey by enabling us to withstand temptations, equipping us with comfort and joy  and draws us closer to God’s desires and love in our lives. So the Gospel isn’t something that pays dividends in the sweet by and by but bring benefits to those who are weary and broken in their daily lives. Jesus told the weak and weary to come to him  and he will give them rest. This is  supernatural strength that is available to you and me today, in the ‘now’ of our lives. His promise is to sustain and preserve us and he will honor it today and everyday in our lives.

– September 28th Curry Dinner will be our last Curry Dinner (for this season) Please start inviting now.

– OCC Collection for this month-toys for Girls

– New Sermon Series on Galatians – A Declaration of Freedom. As we unpack this book we will realize that there are many ‘life jackets’ we cling to hoping that they will save us. This sermon series will be radical and will help us let go of some of those “life jackets”

Dear Church,

Paul tells us “be eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:3). Simply meaning the Holy Spirit is the source and dispenser of unity in the church. This unity that the Spirit authors has two main aims: one it is a witness to the world and two it is an commendation of God’s glory. Jesus says ‘by this ALL people will know that you are my disciples’. Jesus prayer in John 17 says “I ask that they may be one….so that the world may believe that you sent me”. The ultimate aim of unity among believers is the glory of God. Yes, God is glorified when we are of one accord. Paul says 5 “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ”. This is true in all places, families, churches, missions and wherever God’s people come together. Our unity reflects God’s glory and witnesses Jesus to the world.

There will not be any Men’s group tonight
