Many times we focus on what God wants us to ‘Do’ and totally forget the more important element what God wants us to ‘Be’. He wants us to surrender every bit of our lives, yes, even that bit we don’t want to give up and make our lives a conduit of Christ love. And when we do this we will discover that we are created for a purpose much greater than ourselves, the kind of purpose that can ONLY be achieved by the power of the Holy Spirit. Then we start seeing this world as Jesus would see it. Then our ‘doing’ becomes an outflow of our ‘being’ (‘being rooted and established in love’ Ephesians 3:17) this kind of ministry reinvigorates our souls. Yesterday a few of us had the opportunity to walk and  pray over downtown Rutland, the ‘Ground Zero’ for our upcoming Church plant.. Alleluia!  For the next 4 Monday’s, more than a dozen people have signed up to fast and pray for Redemption Church. Our prayer is to ask God to do what only He can accomplish through the out pouring of his Holy presence in our lives and the lives of thousands of non-believers in Rutland. Our prayer is that our ‘doing’ will always be a result of our ‘being’, being rooted and established in Christ!

As believers we  have unique reasons for nurturing our compassionate dispositions. Paul told the Colossians to clothe themselves with compassion along with Kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Col 3:12). The Gospel reminds us that When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.(Matt 9:36) . When the harassed and helpless see compassion, kindness and humility through our eyes it becomes increasingly easy for them to see a God who is compassionate, abounding in mercy and love and who is the source of our compassion. What is our disposition to a needy world? Is our disposition reflecting the nature of Christ?

Also the 65th Annual National Day of prayer will be on Thursday May 5th 2016 @6pm We will meet on the village green at the flagpole to pray for various things but certainly for this great, however troubled, nation. The theme this year is ‘Wake Up America’, based on Isaiah 58:1, “Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet”.

Dear Church,

April 17, 2016

The infinitely valuable message of redemption in Jesus has been entrusted by God in frail and fallible human beings i.e. you and me. (Jars of clay) Yet, our focus is not on the frail and fallible container but on its priceless content- God’s power and wisdom that dwells in us through his Spirit. Knowing that we have a very temporal and perishable outside with all its weakness, let us realize that the power is God’s and not ours. So why say I cant do it, Who said it’s about you or me? Our responsibility is to let people see God through us by being available. …to show that this all- surpassing power is from God and not from us.(2 Cor 4:7)

Dear Church,

April 24, 2016

I belong to my Savior, Jesus Christ- A one liner on our spiritual resume. Every true believer is marked by a desire or an inner longing to bring pleasure to their Lord. This desire born out of love transforms duty and drudgery into willing obedience, it is no longer a chore, it’s the way we are it becomes an outflow of our being. So the task of taking up the cross and following, an indispensable element of our very Christian existence becomes a soul satisfying part of our life, loving our neighbor who has offended us, forgiving the reprobate and being peacemakers and God sharers becomes part of our very nature. The intensity of God’s love that reflects from our lives destroys fear- a life beyond our mediocrity is within our grasp if we are willing to invoke Christ into our lives, yes even to those areas we ourselves are fearful of entering, then our inner desire to bring pleasure to our Lord becomes alive.

Let’s continue to pray for Redemption Church- for Holy Spirit’s guidance, unity in purpose, and for God’s provision.
